Here are three new pictures I took with the tiny camera.

cool little gadgets

So I spent the day out shopping today--it's shaping up to be a quiet weekend, and I'm feeling alright, so I went out for a little while. I found a neat little gadget. It's a Vivitar Mini Digital Camera. It's designed to fit on your keychain. So I figured what the heck--I'll have a little gadget, and with the digital and film cameras I can start taking a lot of really cool pictures (I love taking pictures, even though I'm not real great at it). So here are two of the pictures I took. I'm surprised, the picture quality is actually pretty decent.

warmer weather?

The forecast says it might actually warm up in to the 40s this week. It would be nice, but I'm not really counting on it. I think it reached 30 today. Some of the snow was melting and it was sunny outside, so I played fetch in the backyard with Nitro. He hasn't quite mastered fetch yet. He goes and gets the ball and brings it back, but doesn't want to give it to us. So then we have to go find another toy to throw to him. He could run around in the backyard until his legs fall off; that's the puppy in him. But the hooligan brothers (as Scott affectionately and appropriately named them) are sleeping now.

Not a whole lot happening here. I'm off work tomorrow, and I don't know what to do with myself. Part of me thinks it would be a good idea to spend the day in bed sleeping and kicking the last of this cold. The other part wants to go browse the Presidents' Day sales. I'll probably end up staying home most of the day. Valentine's Day was good. Scott gave me a little vase containing three red roses and four heart-shaped suckers. It's sitting on the entertainment center in the living room, and the flowers are so pretty. He got me an iTunes gift card, which is super cool, so I spent yesterday downloading music. My tiny iPod holds 240 songs and I don't think I'm even close to that. I don't know 240 songs. I don't think I know 140 songs.

is it spring yet?

60s, then snow, then cold. It's sunny outside today, but not helping much. The final tally, according to the weather forecasters, was 6 1/2 inches of snow...but I think we got more than that. We almost lost poor Clyde in the backyard because of the snow. Nitro loves the snow and we almost can't get him to come inside. At least someone likes it.

Let's see, what's happening here...I'm on the mend again from yet another bout of stomach flu or something. It's like the fourth one I've had this season. It really sucks, and it's frustrating because I'm doing everything I can short of living in a bubble to keep myself healthy. I'm feeling a bit better today, but still have that lingering headache that won't let go of me. It's a good day to stay inside, which is the plan. I'm going to make some white chocolate chip cookies later, and some vegetarian paella. I made bread earlier this morning and Nitro got a hold of it, but he only ate a little bit of it.

60s, then snow

This is why everyone--me included--can't stay healthy. It's 60 degrees at the beginning of the week and snowing today. Here are some pictures from our Friday the 13th snowstorm, we got about 6.5 inches of snow.

beautiful day

You couldn't ask for nicer weather in early February. It got up in to the 50s today, it was sunny, and just wonderful. We took the dogs for a walk and sent them out to play in the backyard until they were worn out. I hope tomorrow is as nice as today was. I'm not counting on it, but I hope so.

Here are some pictures of Clyde and Nitro enjoying the nice day today.

work it out

It's so nice to be able to take a walk on, of all nights, an early February one. It got above 60 degrees here in Omaha today. So...I got off work about five, grabbed a bite to eat at home, and took a walk. It was great to get outside and get some air, just listen to the iTunes and watch the world go by. This whole weekend is supposed to be nice so I'm hoping to spend a bit more time outside.

Not a whole lot going on here. I'm glad it's Friday.

Katie goes old school (sort of)

Well, I got my "new" camera today. Call me old school, but I like film cameras. For all the cool features on my Blackberry, it takes less than stellar pictures (then again, people aren't buying a Blackberry for the pictures it takes). So I dug out my old Kodak Advantix camera...and proceeded to break it. I can now say I'm the proud owner of a Canon Elph Z3 APS camera, courtesy of my sister Amy. She said she didn't use it anymore, so she sent it to me. It's in great condition. It takes good pictures. It has cool features. I really like it. Like I said, call me old-school, but there's something cool about film cameras. Plus, I can always get a picture CD and uploaded the photos to the Internet.

Not much happening here. I gave a presentation to a class of radio news students today--a little nervewracking for me, but it went well. I talked to them about long-form reporting for radio and gave some tips on doing features. Hopefully, my talk was helpful. I'm glad it's almost the weekend; it's supposed to actually be halfway warm out, so it might be a good time to take the dogs for a walk. They get exercise, we get exercise...everyone wins.

Vacation days

We're out of town for a well-deserved couple days of vacation. We're in Morrison for the Superbowl and to visit the family. The dogs were mostly good on the ride. Hopefully I'll have some pictures soon.

More later.
